Cook Children's

Little Love,

On your 2-week-old birthday, you woke up from a nap with a swollen eye! It was red, puffy, and dripping tears. Daddy and I called our after-hours nurse line and were advised to take you to the emergency room since you were so tiny. Your temperature was also rising. We packed you up and headed downtown to Cook Children's ER.

It was so sad! Your eye was getting redder by the minute.

We figured you'd be prescribed some eye drops and we'd be on our way...but our doctor decided to admit you since infections can become serious and spread quickly in tiny, little people like yourself.

We were thankful for his thoroughness, but sad to watch you go
through so many tests!

After extensive blood work, urine testing, eye cultures, a spinal tap, and 5 rounds of antibiotics...you could finally rest AND open your eye again!
Thank you, Jesus.

Daddy kept a close eye on you during your treatments.

Our room had a cute view during our 3-night stay at the most expensive hotel ever. :)

You spent your days resting, getting your antibiotics, and of course
eating every 2 hours. Mommy was so tired!!

Our nurse had to put the 'sock of shame' over your IV because
you wouldn't quit sucking on it.

That yellow sock was constantly moving and banging on your 'baby jail bars.' We thought you were so funny! Even in sickness, you were full of energy.

We were exhausted, sleep deprived, new parents, but we took care of you the best we knew how...

And finally...on our 4th day...you were infection FREE and it was time to go HOME!

 Before and After...

We are SO thankful for the great care you received, little man. The Lord was indeed merciful as our family and friends prayed over your little body.

"O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me."
Psalm 30:2
"Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me; O LORD, be my help."
Psalm 30:10
